Christmas in July as Narrabundah Gift Woden 3 Goals and 3 Points

Woden Valley 4
A. Gift 15′, 66′, 80′; Tiny 87′

Narrabundah continued to leak goals this weekend as three more were gifted to another unspectacular but hardworking opponent. Although Narrabundah turned out possibly their worst performance of the year, the score line did not do justice to a match which for the most part was very close and in which Narrabundah spurned 3-4 excellent chances to go ahead at 1-1. This result leaves Narrabundah at least 4 points adrift of 4th place and any hope of finals football is fading fast.

Belconnen United 1
D. Allshins 51′

A resurgent Narrabundah came up against cellar dwellers Belconnen Utd in what was expected to be a comfortable day out for the reds. And so it was to prove with early goals to Dziubinski and Paulo Romero settling Narrabundah early and late goals sealing what was an assured performance.

Narrabundah overcame a self destructing Juventus team in an all too predictably dirty match, marred by language not fit for anyone under 47, horrendous challenges, off-the-ball kicks and abuse, diving and general skulduggery. Substitute referee Kael Da Costa bravely offered his services before the match and it probably only took five minutes for him to truly regret that decision, although he performed admirably given the conditions.

ANU FC 4

Another week, another heavy defeat for Romero’s chargers for whom the heady days of the opening weeks of the season must now seem a distant memory. In truth, once again the score line didn’t do credit to a Narrabundah team who fought hard and were never really outplayed, but ultimately were given a lesson in clinical finishing by an ‘experienced’ ANU side.

Narrabundah’s winning run came to an end today in the Autumn sunshine against an organised, hardworking and trash talking UC side whose mixed results so far this year had masked the fact that they are in fact a very decent team. Although Narrabundah were shorn of no less than 8 players through a combination of injury, suspension and recent transfer activity, it was still a strong line-up that took the field.

Coming into this match, Belnorth had been on the end of two pastings and had conceded 21 goals in 2 games scoring just 1 in reply whilst Narrabundah had been successful in both their prior matches. With this in mind, one could of expected that some complacency might creep into the Narrabundah players thinking, and so it was too prove as they turned out their worst performance of the season so far, spurning numerous chances throughout a match that generally lacked the intensity of their previous two fixtures.
