On a day buzzing with anticipation with all 4 Narrabundah teams playing at home together for the first time, both sets of player arrived highly motivated for this key clash. Queanbeyan had gotten the better of Narrabundah on their previous meeting, the boys in red turning out an insipid performance to go down 2 – 0 at the Riverside.

On a miserable day on which this commentator is sure many of the participating players wished the match had been called off, the players arrived at a boggy Narrabundah field, designer Louis Vuitton handbags and iPods in tow.

A mild Saturday greeted the players as they congregated at a Narrabundah pitch now clearly bearing the scars of the rugby season. On another beautiful autumn day in South Canberra, a luckless Narrabundah put in a much improved performance against a well organised and energetic Woden Valley team. After initially taking the lead with some good pressure high up the park, Narrabundah conceded two soft goals before the break before rallying well in the second half, only to be undone by a quick counter attack at the death.

It was another brilliant Canberra Autumn day for Narrabundah’s first home game of the season, but disappointingly the home side slumped to a draw with an Olympic side that had already been on the end of a couple of hidings this season.

Attack of the Vertically Challenged

Queanbeyan City 2

O.G. 48′, A. Midget 85′

Narrabundah FC 0

A unfortunate own goal and some glaring missed chances ended up costing a Narrabundah team that never really hit its stride. Although the performance was far from good, a string of missed chances and a goal ruled out for a questionable handball ended up costing the Reds dearly.

Juventus 2
11′, 32′

On an overcast day in south Canberra, Narrabundah turned in a tepid display to hand Juventus a comfortable 2-0 win thanks to two gifted goals in the first half. Despite improving in the second half, Narrabundah rarely troubled the Juventus backline with the midfield struggling to link up with Dziubinski and Paulo up front.
