On a freezing night out at the AIS, the out-of-sorts Reds faced up against a red hot ANU side who promptly gave them a footballing lesson. On a near perfect surface, ANU slickly passed their way through a porous Narrabundah team to finish with a comfortable score line which could have been much larger if not for a combination of terrific keeping from Ruiz and poor finishing from ANU.

Once again it was a rusty looking Narrabundah side that took the field at Woden Park to face a White Eagles side that was high on confidence after knocking off rivals Brindabella Blues the week before.

Coming off a disappointing loss to Brindabella in the previous week, the Reds knew they were up against it with league leaders Weston Creek paying a visit to Narrabundah’s temporary but much nicer home grounds at Yarralumla. It was to prove too big a task for an underdone Reds outfit.

It was a surprisingly warm and wind free day at the usually windswept, desolate Calwell playing fields as an injury ravaged Narrabundah side took to the field, shorn of 6 players through injury or other commitments, with 2 more hoping they could avoid being called into action.

On a day buzzing with anticipation with all 4 Narrabundah teams playing at home together for the first time, both sets of player arrived highly motivated for this key clash. Queanbeyan had gotten the better of Narrabundah on their previous meeting, the boys in red turning out an insipid performance to go down 2 – 0 at the Riverside.

A mild Saturday greeted the players as they congregated at a Narrabundah pitch now clearly bearing the scars of the rugby season. Opting not to chose the pitch that had served them so poorly against Olympic, Narrabundah management instead chose the greener of the two fields, although they soon found the lush grass was a result of a small brook running through the center of pitch.
